Brave CF champ Carlston Harris sees Jarrah Al-Selawe as his next opponent

While reigning Brave Combat Federation Welterweight Champion Carlston “Mocambique” Harris, 30, was born in Skeldon, Guyana, he is fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After recovering from an injury, the mixed martial artist is back in training now and he is excited about his first title defense. 

“I am expecting my first title defense as early as possible,” Harris stated. “I am waiting for Brave Combat Federation to give me a date, opponent and place regarding the opportunity to defend my championship title.”

During Harris’s absence, the welterweight division of Brave CF became one of the toughest divisions in the Bahrain-based MMA promotion. With multiple fighters joining the promotion, the welterweight title is now the most sought after in the promotion.

Among the Brave CF athletes fighting in the welterweight division, two are expected to challenge Harris soon. These are Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al-Selawe, 28, of Jordan and Rodrigo Cavalheiro, 35, of Brazil.

“Jarrah Al-Selawe is a well-rounded fighter but I can see weak points in his game plan,” Harris stated. “Meanwhile, Cavalheiro was supposed to fight me before I became a champion. I think with his two straight wins at Brave, he wants that chance to fight me, but Al-Selawe is next in line for a title shot.”

With the most wins in Brave CF, Al-Selawe has claimed to capture the promotion’s welterweight championship during the year. He initially was set to face Harris for the Brave CF Welterweight Championship in Amman, Jordan at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” but the Guyanese-Brazilian champion had to withdraw due to injury.

Al Selawe still competed at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” faced David Bear, 27, of France, who lost to the former via submission. In the Jordanian fighter’s most recent bout, which was at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy” in Jakarta, Indonesia, he defeated Tahar “Fast Hands” Hadbi, 30, of Algeria via unanimous decision.

In Brave CF, Al-Selawe competed and won five times, which makes him the fighter who has the most wins in the promotion. Aside from Bear and Hadbi, Erik “The Last Viking” Carlsson, 25, of Sweden Daniele “Scat” Scatizzi, 25, of Italy and Carl “The Bomber” Booth, 28, of England also lost to the Jordanian fighter in the promotion.

On the other hand, Cavalheiro made a successful Brave CF debut at “Brave CF 11”in Minas Gerais, Brazil by knocking out his fellow Brazilian contender Alessandro Gambulino. Cavalheiro’s most recent Brave CF bout was at “Brave 13: Europe Evolution” in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he knocked out his French opponent Karl “Psycho” Amoussou, 32.

Currently, Harris has 12 wins and 3 losses while Al-Selawe has 12 wins and 2 losses and Cavalheiro has 23 wins and 7 losses. The three are all undefeated in Brave CF.

Including Harris, Brave CF currently has five reigning champions. The other four are Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, of the Philippines, Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 24, of France, Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 28, of Germany and Klidson de Abreu, 25, of Brazil, who are reigning in the promotion’s bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, respectively.

Brave CF debut at “Brave CF 3,” which took place in Parana, Brazil on March 18, 2017, he knocked out Thiago “Monstro” Vieira Damascena, 26, of Brazil. In Harris’s most recent bout, which took place in Brazil at “Brave 8: The Rise of the Champions” on August 12, 2017, he became the inaugural Brave CF Welterweight Champion by defeating Booth via unanimous decision.
