As
the founder of Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat
Federation, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, 28, leads by
example. He won his boxing debut at “KHK Boxing Fight Night” by defeating his
Russian opponent.
Born
on September 13, 1989, Al Khalifa is the son of Bahraini ruler King Hamad and Sheikha Sheia bint Hassan Al Khrayyesh
Al Ajmi. On September 23, 2016, Al Khalifa established Brave CF,
whose holding company is KHK MMA.
Al
Khalifa is the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and
Sports and the Royal Guard Special Unit Commander. On April 28, 2018, he defeated
Shamil Gimbatov of Russia in the 79 kg category at “KHK Boxing Fight Night.”
Both
Al Khalifa and Gimbatov have fought in the MMA cage as well. As an amateur MMA
fighter, the Brave CF founder is undefeated.
On
April 14, 2016, Al Khalifa knocked out Aditya PS of India in the welterweight
division at “KHK Fight Night: Bahrain vs India 1” in Bahrain. On January 12,
2017, the Brave CF founder defeated Manish Kumar of India in the lightweight
division via unanimous decision at “KHK Fight Night: Bahrain vs India 2,” which
also took place in Bahrain.
On
the other hand, Gimbatov has 2 wins and 1 loss as an amateur MMA fighter. At
the 2017 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), he defeated Alex
Elsey of England and Taylor “The Vulture” Garrett of New Zealand both via
unanimous decision but lost to Cody Barnwell of Australia also via unanimous
decision.
