Oktawian Daniel Olejniczak
Oktawian
Daniel “Obi-Wan” Olejniczak is ready to face Cian “The Warrior” Cowley. Training
at Straight Blast Gym Ireland in Dublin, Ireland, Cowley is one of the
teammates of Conor “Notorious” McGregor.
On April
5, 2015, Cowley made it to the news as one of the teammates of McGregor who joined the former UFC Lightweight Champion’s attack
on the red corner fighters’ bus following the “UFC 223” media day at Barclays
Center in Brooklyn, New York. After the incident, Cowley is returning to
the cage for the first time with Olejniczak as his opponent.
The bout
between Cowley and Olejniczak will be one of the undercard bouts of “Brave
13: Europe Evolution,” which will take place on June 9, 2018 at the SSE Arena
at Belfast, Northern Ireland. They will compete at a catchweight of 73
kg.
Cowley is
a decorated Muay Thai fighter who trains at SBG Ireland with the likes of IMMAF
gold medalist Frans Mlambo. The latter will headline “Brave
13: Europe Evolution” with reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen
Loman of the Philippines.
“Brave 13: Europe Evolution” marks Cowley’s Brave CF debut. His
upcoming fight against Olejniczak will be his second bout as a professional MMA
fighter.
The last time Cowley competed inside the cage was on April
12, 2017 at “BAMMA 29.” He lost to David Khalsa via rear-naked choke
submission.
On the other hand, Olejniczak has 2 wins and 1 loss. He had success in
his previous fight against Steve Owens at “BAMMA 35” in Dublin, which he won
via unanimous decision.
“He had a
one year layoff but I think he got that hunger and fire back after his loss at
BAMMA in Birmingham last year,” Olejniczak said
of Cowley. “It will be an exciting fight to watch. On the other side, he
could be a bit rusty in the cage after such a long break.”
“Of
course, he is a decorated stand up fighter but this is MMA,” Olejniczak added. “I know one thing for sure,
it is stylistically a very good match up and people in the SSE arena are
definitely not going to be disappointed.”
While Olejniczak
is originally from Nowa Ruda, Poland, he is fighting out of Northern Ireland
and a former Clan Wars Caged Combat champion. As he steps into Brave Combat
Federation, he is also excited to perform before his home crowd against one of
the closest allies of McGregor.
“My home
crowd gives me a lot of motivation during the fight to push myself to the
limit,” Olejniczak said. “I will put on
one hell of a fight for them! I have been in deep waters in a fight and know
what my mind and body is capable of but every fight is a new test."
